Bikers’ Classics: The user guide...
For the hard core fans who are also prone to nostalgia, the programme is inviting. It starts in the paddocks, where there will be several hundred bikes, each more gorgeous than the next. And it’s the stuff of dreams to be able to meet some stars of the track and get your picture taken with Giacomo Agostini (15 titles) and Phil Read (8), Hugh Anderson, who was crowned four times over and who made an exception to leave his native New Zealand, not to mention Redman, Braun, de Vries, van Kessel, Bryans, Gould, Lega, Mertens, Baker, Hubin.
On the track, in addition to a slew of demos, you most certainly won’t want to miss the “4 hours of Spa Endurance” race. More than 70 bikers astride pre-1980 machines will energize the endurance race with the magic of night driving.
Of particular interest are the two Belgian champions Stéphane Mertens and Didier de Radiguès. For the first time in their racing career, they will be teamed up on the same bike: a Dholda, designed by the late Jean D’Hollander, the wizard of Moerzeke.
On the menu: winners parades – side-car parades – GP1 Series from the 70s/80s – GP2 Series from the 50s/60s – Moto Guzzi expo and village with a chance to test the current range – flea market – pit walk – autograph sessions – shops – Classic 21 concert – photo service – and more! To find out more, visit www.bikersclassic.be.
To help you plan your trip, remember that all next week will be devoted to the Audi Driving Experience, thrill days for trying out all the products offered by the German maker.
